We Make the Bed

I believe it’s fair to say that the most important choices we make each day are often the ones we think the least about.

She doesn’t know this, but one of my favorite small little habits I perform with my wife Anna is making the bed together.

Actually, I’m quite sure this will come as a shock to her because I often do it begrudgingly, with a “you could have done this on your own” look on my face as I walk into the room. But once we are there, in the act of pulling sheets, organizing pillows, and tossing the ends of blankets in the air — to me it’s like a sacred moment. Sacred because it’s a perfect metaphor — a reminder that the most important things in my life are just like making that bed.
